“The Field”

Lynne McTaggart has written a fascinating book dealing with the quest for the secret force of the universe. The book, “The Field”, was first published in 2001, but for obvious reasons did not receive the attention it deserved (9/11). It was the culmination of 8 years of work in the field of miracles. “Not miracles in the ordinary sense of the term…but miracles nonetheless, in their utter violation of the way we think the world works.” The discoveries concerning miracles left McTaggart with wonder but also profoundly unsettled. All the settings for these miracles were based on an entirely different paradigm of the human body from that of modern science. Most involved medical systems which purported to work on ‘energy levels’. McTaggart kept wondering which energy it might be that these supporters were talking about. Where was this “subtle energy” coming from? Where did it reside? What was so subtle about it? Were there such things as human energy fields? And, did the methods used to obtain the miracles account not only for many of life’s mysteries that couldn’t otherwise be explained? Was there an energy source that we really didn’t understand? Her research led her to a small, but cohesive community of top-grade scientists with impressive credentials, all doing some small aspect of the same thing. Their discoveries were incredible. What they were working on seemed to overthrow the current laws of biochemistry and physics. Their theories and experiments compounded into a new science, a new view of the world.
I believe a revolution is at hand; a scientific revolution which will herald the end of dualism in every sense. Far from destroying God, science for the first time is proving His existence – by demonstrating that a higher, collective consciousness is out there. There is no need for two truths, the truth of science and the truth of God. There can now be one unified vision of the world. This revolution will give us back a sense of optimism, which had been stripped away by arid 20th century philosophy, largely derived from the views espoused by science. We are not isolated beings living our desperate lives on a lonely planet in an indifferent universe. We are never alone! We have always been part of a larger whole. We have far more power than we ever realized. Newtonian and Cartesian science has resisted this new discovery. Resistance is the way it has always been in science. New ideas are always considered heretical. The evidence found by this small but cohesive group of scientists might well change the world forever. There are still many areas to be refined, other paths to go down. Many might turn out to be detours or even dead ends, but the first tentative inquiries have been made. It is a start, a first step, the way all real science started.
This book will challenge your belief, primarily because just as most of us were steeped in traditional Christianity for many years, we have been subtly indoctrinated in traditional science as well. It will test your inclusiveness of all who believe in a higher power regardless of what name is attached to that power. How willing are you to stretch your world view and universal view. McTaggart has done an admirable job of condensing the research done on quantum universal theory. Not an easy task!………
